Back in 1994 while helping a friend in the diamond and jewelry industry, we "coined" the phrase the Four C's of Internet.^SM In the diamond industry the four C's refer to Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat. These elements best describe a diamond. We took this concept while helping them with their online media strategy and created the Four C's of Internet.^SM It is comprised of Concept, Content, Community and Commerce. Every online media strategy incorporates each of these KEY elements. Without them the Internet would not exist today. Below is a description of each.

1. Concept - First you need to conceptualize what you will do and what you want your web site to do for you. This may mean animation, bright colors, etc. This is determined by your core target market and its competency.

2. Content - You need to determine what you want to say. Will you change or update content each day? It can even be a static site like an online brochure. This again is determined by your needs and what your target market wants and overall strategy/concept.

3. Community - Community has made the Internet strong. People want a place to seek refuge in. Development of an online community is an easy concept to employ. People want a place to be heard and give their input. Bulletin boards, chats, blogs, online news groups, feedback forms are a few of the pieces that make up an online community.

4. Commerce - Whether you are selling products online, or just displaying information about the products/services you provide, you are involved in the world of commerce.
